CAMEROON • OULDEME MUSIC

The Ouldeme are one of the non Muslim peoples living in the Mandara Mountains, at the far north of Cameroon. Their lives are linked to the agrarian cycle at such an extent that to each step in the cultivation of millet corresponds a specific instrumental set of flutes. The complexity of this music comes from the criss-cross of tones and pitches, mixed to the voice and organized in rich and virtuoso counterpoints. This CD does not go back to the origin of time, it accelerates it by inviting us to spend a musical year in Ouldeme mountains.
