iTALY • CALABRIA - FEASTDAY MUSIC

This anthology of recordings was made in Calabria between 1983 and 1993 during traditional festivals since Epiphany till Christmas. The choice of pieces thus tries to present a sufficiently broad and diversified panorama of the oral music tradition of this region: the religious repertory, music and rhythms of processions and dances, and finally, private performances of vocal and instrumental pieces, in particular zampogna bagpipe music or the little diatonic accordeon indispensable to the tarentella.
